Student-Led Transition Program

To ease the challenges faced by military children in adjusting to new environments, our program prioritizes familiarizing them with the school campus. We'll organize activities specifically designed to help new military students acclimate and feel at home, including:

  • Guided tours showcasing different areas of the school
  • Explanations of essential procedures such as dress code and hallway expectations
  • Introduction to QR Codes for various purposes
  • Clarification of break expectations and recreational areas
  • Detailed explanations of car rider line and cafeteria expectations
  • Insights into emergency drill procedures
  • Guidance on dismissal announcements

In addition, each military child will be paired with a student mentor within the school community. The selected student mentor will employ the 2x10 method, dedicating 2 minutes daily for 10 consecutive days to engage in casual conversations unrelated to school or potential stressors, focusing on the child’s interests. Following this initial period, these interactions will occur once a week.

Various events hosted by the school will provide opportunities for military students to connect with peers facing similar challenges. This comprehensive approach aims to build a robust support system and friendships, ultimately providing the military child with a sense of belonging and safety in their ever-changing environment.
